AAA Cares - Something Bigger
Support Your Local Animal Shelter at AAA!
May is National Pet Month brought to you by AAA Pet Insurance! Stop by your local AAA Central Penn branch to show your support of our animal shelters. We are collecting donations at all ten branches and coordinating volunteer groups at local shelters. While you're there, don't forget your Thank You Gift for your participation! AAA Cares will donate $2 to an animal shelter in your area for each new member that joins AAA Central Penn in May. Gift someone a membership today! Fighting Hunger in Central PA
Please join AAA Cares to help our neighbors that are still suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic. You can help by joining AAA Cares at an upcoming Volunteer Event or donating to the AAA Cares Virtual Food Drive to support the local food banks.
AAA Backpack Program
The AAA Cares Annual Backpack Program is designed to help children in our communities that need support getting off to a good start. Whether it’s on their first day of school or their first day with their new foster family, AAA Cares wants to make sure they have everything they need to make it a better day.
Local Branch Initiatives
AAA Central Penn works hard to support nonprofits that serve the greater central PA area, but we also encourage our branches to coordinate with smaller organizations that serve more localized needs. Find out how you can lend a hand through AAA Cares.
Car Seat Safety Checks
AAA Central Penn has certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) in our branch locations. This service is available to anyone, member or non-member, during regular office hours at no charge. Trained technicians will teach you how to install and adjust your car seat correctly.
CommunityAid Partnership
AAA Central Penn is proud to partner with CommunityAid. CommunityAid helps our neighbors by creating quality jobs, offering an affordable shopping experience, and supporting non-profit partners serving our local community. Donation carts accepting clothes and shoes for CommunityAid are located inside our Harrisburg, Camp Hill, and Lancaster AAA branches.
AAA Cares is Teaming Up with Caitlin’s Smiles
For the 5th year in a row, AAA Central Penn is providing materials to complete 5,000 more Coping Kits in 2024, and we need your help! These kits designed by Caitlin's Smiles are filled with fun activities to keep kids occupied during their stay at local hospitals.
Other Community Involvement
Toys for Tots
Each year we collect Toys for Tots at all 11 AAA Central Penn branches.
Luggage Drive
AAA Central Penn also collects gently used luggage and distributes them to local charities that have a need for them.
Chasing Down Hunger
Employees at the AAA branch in Centerville collected food to support Chase Schattgen and his local charity, Chasing Down Hunger.
Blood Drives
Did you know that every 2 seconds someone needs a blood transfusion? It’s true, and 1 pint of blood can save 3 lives! AAA Central Penn hosts community blood drives to support the Central PA Blood Bank.
CarFit Events
CarFit is an interactive, educational program that teaches participants how to make their personal vehicle “fit” them to increase safety and mobility when they hit the road. The events are free and confidential.
Handmade Blanket Drive
Calling all knitters, crocheters, and quilters: AAA Central Penn branches collect handmade blankets for local hospitals. Lap quilts and afghans should be approximately 36"x36" and baby blankets should be smaller.
